Synthon appoints Rudy Mareel as Chief Executive Officer
Nijmegen, the Netherlands, 8 February 2010 – Synthon is pleased to announce that Rudy Mareel has joined the Company as CEO. Mr. Mareel will focus on extending Synthon’s commercial success in the generics business and opening up new avenues for growth. Dr. Jacques Lemmens, Synthon’s founder, will continue to play a key leadership role within the company, providing long-term strategic direction and guidance for critical R&D activities in particular. Mareel and Lemmens form a strong and complimentary executive partnership to take Synthon to a new level of influence in the generics and speciality pharma sector. |

Most recently, Mr. Mareel served as President International and Member of the Executive Leadership Team at Cardinal Health, a global healthcare company providing products and services. Prior to joining Cardinal Health in 2006, he was an Executive Board member and President of the clinical nutrition business at Royal Numico. He began his career in healthcare at Abbott Diagnostics and Becton Dickinson, where he held leadership positions of increasing responsibility, ultimately being named Worldwide VP and General Manager of Becton Dickinson’s Immunocytometry business based in San Jose, CA, USA.
