Our affiliate Synthon sro in the Czech Republic has been sponsoring the ‘Young Chemist of the Year’ competition for some time. This is a competition for pupils in the last grades of primary schools and it aims to raise popularity of chemistry and science among young people. The winners of the Blansko regional round are announced every year at Synthon’s facilities.
The national final was held at Pardubice University on 12 June. This year, more than 15,000 pupils throughout the country participated; the popularity of the competition is continuously growing. In Pardubice, the top-40 pupils competed and the winners not only earned a nice cup and other prizes but also a scholarship for the first year of their university studies if they decide to go to Pardubice University.
The overall winner was a student who also won the regional round held at Synthon. We are pleased to see that the number of enthusiastic young chemists, not only in the Blansko area, is increasing. We are also looking forward to next year’s edition of the competition!
