Synthon Announces Strategic Expansion in Spain

Sant Boi, Spain / Nijmegen, The Netherlands – Synthon, a global leader in the development and manufacturing of complex generic medicines, today announced a strategic expansion of its operations in Spain. The additional facility space is adjacent to its Sant Boi site.

The acquisition, which closed today, will add approximately 6,000 m² of expansion space to its current ~13,600m2. The capacity will progressively be customized starting immediately, creating a flexible platform for additional future development and manufacturing. This investment further strengthens Synthon’s commitment to European development and manufacturing. It enhances supply chain resilience to serve patients and partners across the region and globally.

For over 26 years, Synthon has been developing and manufacturing high quality, complex oral solid dose generics at the Sant Boi facility. Since the initial site acquisition in 1998, the company has invested over €50 million, adding specialized technologies and increasing production and packaging capacities to meet the growing needs of its partners. Today, the site employs over 600 highly skilled colleagues and produces over 2.5 billion units annually. As demand for high quality, complex generics continues to increase, this acquisition forms an excellent platform to rapidly scale Synthon’s capabilities and capacities.
